Goldsmiths was founded as a Christian acoustic rock group by Rob Halligan and recorded their first CD, “Iknow Youknow” in 1999. The CD received some top reviews including Cross Rhythms (7/10). They played a live radio set on CR Radio and toured the Midlands.

In 2001 Rob Halligan’s father was killed in the attacks on the World Trade Centre, New York. This had a huge effect on him and reflected in the music he was writing. In January 2002 he organised a concert as a tribute to the 9/11 victims.

In addition Halligan is making more solo acoustic material.  One of his most popular songs, The Streets of this Town topped 2000 sales in 2003 whilst Dancing with Seagulls topped the Overplay download chart in 2004.

In 2005, he was involved in a charity project called Playing For Change with several other artists to raise money for the Asian Tsunami Disaster, and a cd Stand Together reached no.30 in the Indie charts and was no.1 in the Overplay download charts, raising £3000. Rob Halligan also won an award in the Birmingham Unsigned Awards

Goldsmiths and Rob Halligan continue to make music and are involved in several church and charity events around Coventry.
